Dentists & Hygienist

Gerry Quin

Gerry graduated from Otago Dental School in 1987 and initially worked as a Dental House Surgeon in Waikato hospital. In 1989 Gerry, his wife Gabrielle and their six month old son Patrick, moved to Nelson and bought into the Nile Street dental practice with Ross Holland, this practice was previously owned by the Currie brothers.

In 2003 the practice was moved to 70 Collingwood Street to accommodate for the increased growth. This was a positive move with state of the art technology along with more staff, a practice manager and hygienists.

In 2017, after more than 29 years with his old practice, Gerry set up Quin Dental. Gerry moved to accommodate his general dentistry and meet the growing demand for non extraction orthodontics and dentofacial orthopaedics, which requires space for orthodontic assistants. Gerry enjoys providing quality general dentistry with a specific emphasis on crown and bridge and amalgam removal. Gerry’s passion is combining prevention with treatments that improve long term health.

He is a foundation member of the NZ institute of minimally invasive dentistry (NZIMID) and he uses a laser machine in his practice. Gerry has completed numerous post graduate courses in the areas of Orthodontics, Dentofacial orthopaedics, Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD). In 2014 Gerry graduated from Boston University with a Master of Science MS. Gerry offers both general dentistry and Orthotropics /TMD services to his patients. He is supported by his dental assistants and orthodontic auxillary staff.

Outside of work Gerry enjoys reading, golf and time away in Golden Bay with Gabrielle. He has four adult children.
