Gerry graduated from Otago Dental School in 1987 Gerry initially work as a Dental House Surgeon in Waikato hospital. 1989 Gerry, his wife Gabrielle and their 6 month old son Patrick moved to Nelson, Gerry bought into the Nile St practice with Ross Holland, this practice was previously owned by the Currie brothers.

In 2003 the practice was moved to 70 Collingwood st to accomdate for the growth. This was a positive move, state of the art technology along more staff employed, practice manager and hygienists. the invent of files computized, bookings made on computer and the purchase of a dental programme.

Gerry Quin has been a Principal in practice for more than 28 years. 2017 Gerry set up his own practice Quin Dental. Gerry moved to accommodate his general dentistry and expanding interest in Orth tropics. He is a foundation member of the NZ minimally invasive dentistry and he uses a laser machine in his practice. Gerry has completed numerous post graduate courses in the areas of  Orthotropics and Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD). In 2014 Gerry graduated from Boston University with a MA in Science.  Gerry offers both general dentistry and Ortho  tropics /TMD services to his patients. He is supported by his dental assistants and orthodontic auxillary staff  Rachel, Livia and Ingrid.
